DO YOU WASH & REFRIGERATE YOUR EGGS?-

I'm thinking in Ga. it's not legal to sell them unwashed, right? They have so many rules that I only sell to close acquaintances anyway, but I kinda don't think folks here will want to put unwashed ones in their fridge. I do and wash right before using, selling, or giving away. I read to briefly wash with hottest water you can stand to keep bacteria from infiltrating shells.

Living in hot Ga., I feed back any eggs if I'm not sure were laid that day. Sometimes mine lay odd places, and I find stashes. that the chickens get to eat. I recently cracked some for them, only to find blood and starts of eyeballs in the eggs! Guess they were sat on a lot, or it was just HOT where they laid. So, I try to collect multiple times through the day. However, I was recently hospitalized twice, and animal management is difficult to push onto others.

I don't wash unless they are filthy and put them in the fridge. If I give to people, I put a note in with them telling them that the eggs are not washed and providing a "best by" estimate. I write dates on each egg in pencil so they know when to use them. I give fresher ones away and keep older ones or ones I've had to clean.

Disclaimer: I only read about half of the posts, so info may be redundant.

I only wash if they are dirty. I refrigerate within a few days because I sell most of them and that's what some people like.

Mine do not get washed unless a hen makes a complete mess on them. Then washed and refrigerated after that. I give and sell to some people. I tell them that the little poo on there is for free! If someone does not like the fact that fresh eggs with the bloom on them are better than washed and buffed eggs, I typically don't deal with them. Most people I deal with know that it's best if not washed etc...

The longest that eggs last around my house is maybe a month if they get forgotten about. No washing or refrigeration used!
