Do your chickens ever get really really mad at you?

My normally genteel and dainty hens jump UP and pull at my sleeves when they're ticked off at me. "Where's the treats? We haven't had dry oatmeal out of your hands l in days! You throw out some BOSS in the morning in a rush and then we don't see you again until the weekend!"

I got cussed out the other day collecting eggs. There was a hen in a nest box and i looked at her lol
she ranted for a long time lol I collected eggs split wood and went into the house and she was still at it lol.

Oh my gosh! So lately when I go collect my chickens eggs they all cluck really loud and follow me around doing it as though they are yelling at me!! I think I'm really making them mad LOL! Also when I go near them they squat down and put their wings out like they are trying to look tuff and stand their ground?!? Have you seen your chickens do this? I think they are holding a grudge against me for taking their eggs LOL!

Au contraire, your hens are showing you they think you are #1 by squatting.
It's what they do to show a rooster they are submissive to him.

I get talked about & at every time it snows & they can't freerange in the yard - their choice, not mine!
Chickens have perfected the art of the Stinkeye

On the squat thing - if they go down with their back to you, that's submission. If they face you and fluff out their neck and drop their head and chest low, they are challenging. My top hen bosses the dog this way all the time.

Our smallest chick decided to go broody. She was ticking off the other chickens because she was in the favorite nestbox. So we tried to get her out of there with our hands -which only got us pecked. So, I got a piece of corn stalk left from this summer and poked her in the butt. That chicken got off that nest so fast ! The air was blue with chicken cusswords.

She was really mean and ticked off for a few hours.

I have a little Silkie cross rooster who takes it very personally if I don't feed everyone on time. He is the only bird I've ever known who expresses resentment with a shark bite. Not a peck or a nip: he clamps onto some convenient exposed part like an elbow or an ankle, and twists it from side to side like a crocodile trying to disembowel its prey. Cries of "OWWW" elicit no mercy. Now that I am thoroughly covered in fabric, though, I think he finds it disheartening. It's hard to punish me properly through my winter clothes.

He is 100% my buddy as long as the food arrives on schedule...

Naaaa mine have short memories. They don't stay mad for more than a few seconds. If they did, the rooster would remember the butt kicking I gave him last week.....but roosters are not so bright in that department

Rather than get annoyed at ME because of the solid water, they tend to thank me for bringing them warm water. Ya gotta work these things into your advantage

Though, they DID give me a bit of a stink eye about the snow, they got over it in about a day though.

Oh my gosh I'm ROFL!! This is some of the funniest stuff I've heard in a long time! That attack chicken should be named Sharkie LOL! Thank you all for the squatting information! I thought they were squatting and getting their footing to attack me LOL!! Now after reading this I do think they are being submissive because they will let me per them when they are squatting and lift their tail feathers up. I was beginning to think they were doing it because they want me to rub their backs but now I'm kind of grossed out because I think they want something else from me Bwahahahah!!!

I think mine are still too young to get mad at me. They are only 12 weeks old.

They are definitely a very quite bunch but do start up a chattering conversation when I come out to visit. And I usually bring treats.
