Do your chickens mind the rain?

No, I don't think rain effects laying. Maybe if it was dark and dreary for a prolong time, like Seattle. And you don't supplement light.

Mine range around in the rain and often shake like wet dogs. They take turns knocking on the glass door, wondering why I'm inside.

Lily, my Americauna does not like the rain, but I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, and a Barred Rock who were a little upset when I put them back into the coop to shelter them from the rain today. They were happily digging through the compost pile, and were a little perturbed when I moved them. I guess Lily is just a little more delicate than the others.

She is our favorite, and definitely the most friendly!

Orps aren't supposed to get wet, but mine did. Guess what? She died heh. They usually stay in their "patio" when it rains. (under the coop lol)

I was kind of curious about the effects of inclement whether myself. In early September we had a snap where it rained steady and pretty heavy for three days, it was accompanied by a very unseasonable drop in temperature as well. I did notice that production dropped a bit for a couple of days, but a single occurrence doesn't make a pattern.

They did stay out a lot in that rain though. Generally, they don't seem too bothered by the rain. I'm curious to see their reaction to snow.

mine go out in the rain, and then treat me like I forced them. they get all wet and stringy, and kind of pathetic.. but they make the choice to go out or stay in, so I don't feel too bad.

and 'Orps shouldn't get wet'? I had a Buff orpington, and she got just as wet as the rest, for years! it was the fox that killed her, not the rain...
