Do your chickens "play in the rain"??!!

My dh doesn't like to let them out when it's raining. He's afraid they will catch a cold because he doesn't think they are smart enough to come in out of the rain. lol I let them out. I have more faith in them.

I'm not sure if they like the rain but they do seem to enjoy it when I use the hose to make mud puddles in their run. They like to splash and scratch around in the wet dirt, probably looking for bugs.

My little dumbbells certainly do. Yesterday I slogged out in the rain to move their house, so that they could have fresh grass and everything when it cleared up. I let them out just before going inside myself, and they came out to frolic. Two hours later, after the rain had STOPPED I went out to find them all hanging out inside.

Dumb clucks!

My chickens usually play out in the rain. I had always thought chickens did not like to get wet...LOL. After getting 15 inches of rain within 24 hours last week I don't think they like it so much now. They seem to run for cover at the first drop.

People have this strange fear of getting wet. I don't understand it. Animals don't have that problem. You aren't going to get sick and die if you get a little wet especially if it isn't that cold out.

My chickens were out playing in the ice storm last winter. My roo looked really funny with icicles hanging off his tailfeathers.
It didn't bother them anymore than it bothered the cows.

Ours are happy to be out in the rain. If it starts coming down hard, they'll take cover under the pines or shrubs ... or worse, will get in the kid's playset and leave poop all over it.

They don't seem to mind getting wet, except in the winter.
