OK silly question of course they do now and then right!?

We have one gal at our office, shes super sweet - 5 ft even and spunky as all get out. Just had her 1st baby in April. So, she walks the halls and if you happen to make the mistake of looking up she will dart into your office and regale you with the latest baby stories even tho youve heard them over coffee already this morning. She will literally sit at my desk talking until I just turn away and start working again. Seriously we are all really busy, its social services, and in this economy we are REALLY busy and she knows it... but she just goes up and down the hall looking for SOMEONE she can share all the boring details of the latest spit-up with.

I feel rude when I just turn away and ignore her, but every time I try to end the convo she hasd one more thing to tell me about. SHes the mom with a million new pics every day that she thinks we want to go over in detail for hours... I dont EVER force my kids' pics on ppl, if they ASK for pics I will show them, and I made a point even with my first baby to NEVER irritate people by telling them all the details that only a mother gives a crap about... So how do I deal with this without being more rude than I already have - I really do feel that its rude to turn back to my work but its the ONLY thing I have found that gets her to LEAVE!

ahhh but... it is not an easy situation to deal with.....she is the very proud first mother..... maybe you should just cut her a little more slack..or be point blank and tell her that although you find her stories lovely... you don't need to hear every aspect of her motherhood. choice is yours.........if you decide on the latter do it nicely.........we where all (well most of us) first time parents........

Why not the truth as you said in your post - "I'm not trying to be rude and ignore you but I am just really busy and truly don't have the time to talk right now..." Maybe even throw in a gentle reminder that, since the economy is bad, she may want to not be haunting the halls so much and put her own job at risk...

Not a big fan of people who think I'm interested in their little curtain-climbers.
Like, who cares if an employee of my company in Arizona is going to have a baby boy?
Is she the first person ever to have one of those?

Wait until she startes potty training. I Had to hear every detail of every pee and poo little Cheyenne had. I wanted to hide under my desk.

Since my only co-worker is my husband, the answer is Yes!!
