And it must be just as funny from inside, looking out at five beaks and ten beady eyes. They're a lot more fun than we could ever have imagined. My girls KNOW they own this place and I'm required by some Poultry Law to furnish the necessities plus lots of treats. I need to remember to 'take back control'.

Why is it that chickens like perching on grills so much? Our grill is our hens' favorite place in the yard! Maybe they secretly yearn to become Cornish Xs...

Mine know the sound of my door and they will squawk and all run to the gate. When I get there, they won't even let me in the gate, then they try to trip me by walking around my feet.

Heaven forbid I have scratch, then I have 2 that fly up on my arm to get to the treats. (my son thinks it's hilarious, and prompts "mom, let them fly up on you")

lol that's so funny, mine also try and trip me up, and i swear one will get my attention just so that another hen can jump me from behind and take the goods. i'll be standing there eating a banana outside and they all start to close in on me...i put the bananna back behind my head so they can't see it or get to it, then WHAMMO!!! i'm being flogged from behind...bananna, soiled, on the ground, i leave defeated and the ladies bask in their triumph! sometimes it's like they hunt like a pack of wolves.
