RebelsHope, I called her a he also when she was a pup. There is nothing feminine about her growl!
I've always heard that dogs have "good bacteria" in their mouth to fight the bad bacteria in what they eat. That is obviously why they can get away with this without killing themselves! I started making yogurt for the chickens and have put some in her food occasionally. I reckon I'll have to keep that up.
Yeah, Standard Hen. I leased a barn for a while from a woman who's Weimeraner loved hoof shavings also. Bad part about it was then she would throw up all night and her owner got no sleep. So, we had to clean them up carefully or get a "very sweet" little letter taped to the barn the next day!
Speaking of weird dog behavior; did y'all know that dogs can have "false pregnancy"? That's another thing I didn't know. Her first heat we watched her like hawks, she never even saw another dog. Then she starts...uddering up, for lack of a better term. Took her to the vet,,,false pregnancy! The only remedies are breeding or spaying. Not ready to breed her yet, so...now we know when she goes in and then udders up, not to worry.

My beagle will also steal cat poop from the litter box and eat it so we had to put a baby gate up in the doorway to prevent him from getting into it. He also has the disgusting habit of getting in to the garbage and taking poopy diapers out of it and running upstairs and under my bed to eat the poop of it. I'm always feeling sick to my stomach when I have to go fetch that nasty diaper from under my bed, and we have to turn the garbage pail backwards to keep him out of it. When we go out somewhere, we have to lock the garbage in another room so he doesn't have it strewn evreywhere
