Doctor Who? Torchwood?

My daughter lllooovees the Dr (David Tennant of course) ok I do to but have watched it from way back when (Tom Baker). We do not get torchwood, is it on Hulu?? We like Mary Jane. We are looking forward to Eureka starting again..it is WAY to long before these shows start up again!!

Another Dr Who watcher- started with Eccleston(sp?).. watched it because it was 'different' and started to really like it because it was loads of fun too.

Took me a while to warm up to Tennant.. dude too crazy/serious, didn't help I really loved Eccleston(sp again) and didn't want him to go, ha!

I'm worried about the new Doc.. seems very young.. not sure if they are going to aim for a much younger audience or what..

Torchwood is interesting, it's much darker and the Jack is very different from the Jack in Dr Who but maybe that works, because if Torchwood was "Dr Who II" it might be a bit boring as in more of the same-o.

It was hard to deal with characters of Owen and Gwen.. It's hard not to yell rude things at Gwen. Also bugged when they tried to play "attraction tension" between Jack and Gwen.. so unconvincing. Him with Ianto or anybody/anything else works though!

Really really loved Tosh and was utterly crushed and shocked when she died..

You guys had to mention Blink?! Now I'll be very suspicious of statues all over again..... thanks a lot!

Okay okay trying to think good things.. loved Lady Cassandra.. for some reason Face of Boe is one of my favorite Whoverse things.. do you guys think that's really Jack in the future? Well you know what I mean.. all that time travel...

Totally Jack...and totally cool. I loved that little shock when he mentioned being the poster boy for the Boeshane Peninsula.

Oh, and for a warning to anyone out there who hasn't seen Torchwood yet and is thinking about it--it is VERY adult. VERY. They show a lot of 'relationship things' and use very adult words. My kids (4 and 1) are allowed to watch the old Who right now and will start on the new series' when they're a bit older. They are not allowed to watch Torchwood until they're 16+. It really did shock me the first few episodes, what's allowed on TV and in the media in GB is even more than what's allowed here.

Oooooh, and I loved Eccleston too. I was bummed when I found out that he was such a git to work with on the set and thought it would ruin his performance for me, but I'm so happy it didn't. Learning that Tennant is such an awesome all-round friendly guy made his performances even better for me, though.

Eccleston was a git? Quite shocking. Shows he's a great actor, I guess as none of that comes across on the screen for sure. Interesting Tennant is more of the opposite especially as his Doctor is so much openly darker.

Yeah, apparently Eccleston was really grumpy and not any fun to work with (even John Barrowman made a comment in either Torchwood Declassified or Doctor Who Confidential, can't remember which. He praises Tennant, though, saying he's a bunch of fun and they even spend time together outside of work. There's a great (if very short) YouTube video somewhere of them on set, and Barrowman saying that he brought cake, and Tennant gets all excited. Very cute.

I LOVE Doctor Who!!

I grew up watching him, until they stopped airring, and when they started up again....Heaven....

Lol Torchwood is pretty good too, I have unfortunately only seen parts of the first season, but let me tell you, Capt. Jack is very drool worthy!

This is great to see so many people on here love Doctor Who, too. I can watch the Eccleston episodes now, but when it first came on tv here in the states I watched just a couple and then quit watching. I didn't care for his Doctor, too different from Tom Baker (the last time I had watched as a kid, I couldn't handle Tristan Farnon from All Creatures as the Doctor)

The funny thing about "going for a younger audience" with Matt Smith, from what I read and hear, in the UK, Doctor Who IS for kids. Seems weird to me, we watched it as kids, but we were weird kids.

I love, love, love Dr. Who. Last summer I watched every episode on Netflix again. Can't wait for more. My third favorite is Torchwood. I'm glad to hear they are going to tone down the adult bit. A good deal of that wasn't entertaining to me at all. But the stories, aliens, and effects are so good that I had to watch. I wouldn't call Captain Jack "bi" I would say he'll go for anything willing. He's kinda trampy. Unlike his Dr Who character that was more appealing.

But nobody has mentioned my 2nd favorite Primevil. Love it! Even with it's cast and character changes I'm just as hooked as when I saw the first episode.

Oh and Blink was the best episode. I love those weeping angels. They need to revisit them and they did leave the door open to.

Captain Jack's 'omni' leanings were introduced in Doctor Who. Everyone he meets he gives a flirty hello to, including aliens. Remember Utopia? Even the Monmooth chick, the insect-y blue one. And the Doctor has to say 'not now' everytime he meets someone new.

I've watched Dr. Who since Tom Baker and now my kids watch with me. I like Tennet and was sad to see him go. Did any of you catch him on Graham Norton where they did the fake Tardis?
