I'm very happy that Marmalade's bill is getting quite dark. I have read that Welsh from hatcheries sometimes have lighter bills due to not-so-great breeding stock. I would love her no matter her bill color, but I think the dark bills on that breed are very pretty.

I am also happy that they have really warmed up to my son. He talks to them frequently, but is a little afraid to handle them (he is a young adult who is on the Autism spectrum, and he gets anxious easily). But they seem curious about him rather than afraid. They are rather terrified of my hubby, though. 😂
Interesting about the bill color! I've had two WH, Pigweed who I got from a bin at a feed store. She had a very pale bill for years. She has lots of dark freckles on it now. And Gingersnap who originally came from Metzer, I adopted her at about 4 or 5 months old and she had a dark black bill!

Here is my welsh duckling from day 1. You can see one has a pale beak.

Beautiful!!!!!

I googled WH from Metzer to see what everyone's adult girls looked like. Some had yellow bills. You know how it is. I was imagining what my flock would look like. Had to look up everything. Obsessively. For hours.

I completely understand. I believe the males are suppose to have the pale beaks. The males will look like females before they get their drake plumage. So that might be some of the reasons.

These are the same two ducks. He barely would make any sound at all, and peeped for a while that I questioned if he was a male or not.
He was the first male I owned and I was shocked they look like females at first.

I love the plumage on Saxony drakes!

Hubby needs to sit down with them in his lap in front of the TV and watch a couple episodes of SpongeBob. The two Pekin boys from @SuperDuck are big fans of Sponge Bob.
Spongebob is definitely a huge hit in this house. I was so happy when the kids outgrew the talking dish washer only to end up with two feathered freaks who love the little yellow dude. Ugh
