I just went back and looked at those pictures. .... Weird, but do you see that hatch # 3 in the Sportsman moved the entire egg???? How did she do that? I have not opened the door at all. WOW, that is weird!

I HAVE A SUEDE BABY! (Yes, I'm yelling!)

These Georgia eggs are certainly in no hurry! They take their sweet time, for sure!

Nothing like draggin' it out!

12 Delawares out. I don't see any more pips.

Fern's egg is still messing around, and not out yet .. but is alive and chirping!

1 BBS Orp still wobbling.... no pip though.

ETA: Part 3 of the hatch ... the White Faced Black Spanish are on Day 20 ... due tomorrow. So, I am thinking I may see some action from them today ???

Kathy, that is so typical of the Orps to be late. On occasion, Smoky's babies have trouble with her eggs being so narrow and the chick being large, but most hatch on their own.

I'm excited that you are having such a good hatch rate with my shipped eggs! Fabulous! Great job, m'dear.

Kathy - I've been following your hatch - it's all very exciting!

I am curious, though, about hatching in cartons. I have never seen that before - what are the advantages over just having the eggs hatch on the incubator floor?

I am also wondering if anyone has had eggs shipped in winter? I would love to be hatching now, but I am afraid that eggs would freeze this time of year en route. Does anyone have experience with this? Please disregard if I am highjacking this thread - I certainly don't mean to.

In hatching in cartons ... they don't play bowling with all the eggs in the incubaotor, once they start hatching. That is the biggest advantage that I see. It also makes for quick and easy clean up afterwards.
