Does 4 eggs per day from 8 hens sound right?

My girls give me 4 eggs a day from 5 layers. Every other week I might get 2 for a couple of days. But all in all, not so bad.
I haven't added a light yet. Do I do it now or wait a couple more weeks? I haven't seen a slow down in production, if anything they have gotten more regular.
BTW:
When does a pullet turn into a hen?

Update!!! The girls have been stepping up egg production and reached a new record of 7 eggs from 8 hens yesterday! Six today. We are psyched!

When does a pullet turn into a hen?

When showing birds a female is a pullet until she is a year old. I think in general that is the rule also

Are you extending the day with an electric light? If you keep layer feed and water steady and provide an extra 2-3 hours of daylight I would expect you could be at a stead 80%- 90%. With only 8 hens it may not be worth the effort.

I have 14 pullets(minus one broody) and I have been getting 10-13 eggs out of a possible 13 eggs

After hearing other results I have been very pleased with my Buff Orpington and Black Orpington egg production. Even my mutt hen and NHR has been doing well.

My four little bantams just started laying last month, and they've been giving me 4 eggs a day nearly every day since they started. Woot!

Of course the eggs are small, but they are rich and tasty.

My seven hens, hatched April 1 have been giving me 5-6 eggs per day for several weeks. They started laying the middle of July. The egg size was small at first, 35 - 40 grams. Now they average 50 grams and still 5-6 per day. Today I got a record breakers, however, one egg was 82.1 grams. It looked fake.....it is HUGE! Can't weight to break it open.

My hens started laying on Sept. 1. I have 12, but have never gotten a dozen eggs. Usually it 7-10 eggs a day. I think they don't all lay every day at this age. Hoping I'm right.
