Does ADVANTIX Even Work??!!!

We have a heavy tick population here in NJ. I have used K9 Advantix as well as Frontline Pus. Out of the 2 brands Frontline has always outperformed the Advantix. Even though I may find a tick now and then they are always dead. The Advantix I did nothing but pick live ticks of my furkids.
That being said I have heard from many people they have better luck with the K9 Advantix in our area though...

I have had very good luck with Advantix. Advantage, Advantage Multi have NO tick product in there. revolution is only labeled for the brown dog tick, not the black legged deer tick we worry about here in the northeast. All that being said, there is NO tick product that is 100%. If your dog (or you) walk through an area of a recent hatch, you could end upnwith HUNDREDS of the little buggers on you! If I was in an areabwhere my dog was picking up a lot of ticks, I would use a preventic coller (amitraz), combined with Advantix, and vaccinate for lymes disease if that were a concern.

I've not seen any product work as well as the Preventic collars... Frontline, Advantix, Vectra...still found ticks on the dogs. Preventic collars on, not a single tick for 2-3 months with ONE $12.00 collar... I buy'em by the dozen!

PS ~ Fortunately fleas are not a real issue here, because Preventic is ticks only.

Preventic are the only thing I used for ticks now. They work great and last a few months. I use comfortis for fleas. It is amazing!!! NO fleas and one dose lasts for at least 6 weeks.

Frontline doesn't work for us here and I LOVE comfortis, but my current vet doesn't sell it and won't give outside prescriptions

SO we use Vectra -D and it works OK. We did try revolution on my cavalier and it didn't do much for fleas. We still found some on him, but not many.

Ticks are only a problem for us if we go down to my Mom's house and I don't think MY dogs have ever had a tick, but her dog gets them all the time on Frontline plus.

Frontline used to work SO well. I swear, I think it must have been reformulated. It went from working great one summer, to not working at all the next. If it were not for Comfortis I don't know what I'd do.

Remember, any of the topicals won't work if you bathe the dog. Comforts only does fleas, and kills the flea after it infests a blood meal, so maybe not a great choice for pets with allergies to flea saliva
