Does any one else wish BYC had spell check?

Bitter and jaded? Because the language means something to me? Am I bitter and jaded because chickens are important to me?

And please, for the record - please quote my post wherein I put someone down. My posts were all general. If anyone got personally put down in this thread, it was me. But I am not bothered by it because I considered the source. I have my opinions, just like you and everyone else. I don't know why that makes people feel the need to call me out. I guess they are just dealing with their own insecurities.

One of the truly great things about BYC is the way we come together from different parts of the world, each of us with different backgrounds, people of all ages, and we have found a common theme, our love of chickens and an interest in socialising, sharing our knowledge and supporting those who share our passion.

Unfortunately there are always those who enjoy being divisive, and derive pleasure from making others feel small. No one should ever feel they dare not post in case someone picks them up for their bad grammar or spelling, in my opinion that is just not acceptable at all.

BTW If you lurk in the threads a while you will see the same names coming up over and over, always taking the opposing view, always quick to make a cutting comment etc, revelling in other people's outrage. Don't reward bad behaviour by feeding it an argument, ignore it and it will soon starve.

Please tell me one person whose grammar I have criticized. You won't find any, because. unlike some other people, I can state my opinions without having to get personal and go on the attack. My grammar was ridiculed in this thread, but no one seems to see a problem with that. I never claimed to have perfect grammar; I only said the language was important.

I also reserve the right to state my opinions in any thread, whether or not the majority agrees. I thought that was the beauty of this site - the fact that we don't all have to agree. Must I always follow the party line or risk being labled "divisive"? That just doesn't seem fair. Why am I not allowed to have my own views if they don't correspond with the majority?

I don't recall mentioning your name or quoting you, so why would you think I am referring to you, did you maybe recognise yourself?

Now I have no intention of of feeding this argument, so good night all.

No worries, Wendy. It's just that I was the only one on this thread with that opinion, so, naturally, I assume you are talking about me.

Gee. logical assumption, since I was the only dissenter on the thread, to think you were referring to me. You must have been referring to other dissenters on some other thread. My bad. Buh-bye now.

Just for the record I would never embarrass or belittle anyone because of their spelling and grammar. I just have personal preferences for what I like to look at. There are some posters on here whose threads I avoid because I know they are going to be a chore to read, so I skip them. That is my prerogative; but I thought maybe if they knew it mattered, they would make an effort. If everyone tells them that language doesn't matter, why should they bother?

It doesn't need to be an English literature class for people to respect their own language. It DOES matter. I can't tell you how much time I scratch my head trying to figure out what the heck people are trying to say, between the barrage of abbreviations, misspellings, and lack of punctuation. You don't have to be an English Lit major to use the language they way they taught you in grade school.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't...

I was taught in grade school that you don't put commas before prepositional phrases when they're at the end of a sentence or before a subordinating conjuction.
