Does any one here NOT name their chickens?

we name some and we don't name others. The girls name alot , and it helps for identification issues As in "go grab me cinderella, something is wrong with her eye" But we will still eat them. We ate Angel for christmas.

I can't really imagine naming chickens. I suspect that if I get some breeder birds that stick around for a couple years they might develop a name. If I had a cock bird that was special I might name him so that he could be quickly identifed. I think I would likely just use the leg band numers and that would more or less become the name.

I would not name them from a pet perspective that is for sure. I have nothing against pet chicken keepers, I am just not one of them.

I named the first friendly one Kip(dutch for chicken). Kip's best friend is Kelly. Then I named the 2 RIR's Henny and Penny. But I think Henny is a Henry. Then I named the next BR that looked like a Roo, Rudy. Then The next 2 who look like Roos are Burt and Ernie. The only Australorp is Aussie, the smaller BR that follows Kip and Kelly around is Kim. And the last is Bunny, she a hopper.
I just got 5 more BR babies, names?

I only name a few. Most I don't. For one, I would run out of names... two, when you have 100+ what's the point? and three, if you are going to eat them one day, it probrably would help if you didn't name them. Ya know?

And what's wrong with naming fish? Some of mine have names - not all only the different ones.

Nothing wrong with it, just strikes me as a bit much. There are names and then there are names. I give the dog a name, but fish... not so much.

No names here other than: Roosters, Hens, Pullets, Cockerals and chicks. My 3 year old son calls all of them chickies.

I only have 2 chooks in my yard... and they haven't even qualified for a name yet (they are 15wks).

I spend a fair bit of time with them... but at the moment I just call them my little ladies or chookers.... maybe when they lay they might get names.... who knows!!!

Ja! I think it will be hard to announce that we are having Burt and Ernie for dinner.
