Does anybody know whats going on here?

I have two chickens that have naked vents but I can't find any flies, mites or other critters on them. The one on the picture is especially bad. The naked places are hot and dark red. Could it be that she has mites under her skin? What can I do to treat it?

To me it looks like feather picking from other hens. I would quietly observe the flock to see if you see one doing it. Usually it's from a protein deficiency or boredom and crowding.

I just separated the two hens and will see if it gets better. Thanks
