Does anyone disapprove of chicken diapers?

I had to keep a couple of buff Silkie hens in the house because they wouldn't eat or drink unless they had food right there in front of them. They had perfect eyesight and two good legs, yet sat like comatose lumps. Anyway, I ordered diapers from the above place and found that they were the best fit of all but weren't real easy to use since they didn't have any fasteners. It was a matter of using your own safety pins. This was about seven years ago so I don't know if they improved the way they are fastened or not.

I can see that a diaper could have it's uses. Personally- don't think I'd ever need/want one.. But last year at my son's Preschool, a teacher brought in one of her adult chickens for a segment the kids were learning about. She had made a chicken diaper for the bird so that the chicken could walk around in the class room without messing it up. It was really perfect for the circumstances. The chicken was exceptionally docile and the kids had a great time.

Please tell me you have pictures of this. You must.

I'm assuming you're referring to Dermis in his hoodie? I don't have pictures...I guess I'll go take one today.

He's a nearly hairless cat...of course he needs a hoodie.

That is so cute! Your kitty looks great in his hoodie!

Thank you. I'm not really a cat person, but he's an exception.

I know there are some people who have 'therapy chickens' that take them to nursing homes, etc., that put them in diapers. I have used them on occasion when I had to have one in the house for one reason or other, but I don't have any in the house on a full-time basis. I have bought them from several places, and the ones from indoorducks.com are too heavy for bantams, have large plastic clips on them (I have all bantams), the one from mypetchicken is very stiff with a hard plastic insert in the tail section, and the one I have that fits the best, is adjustable and soft is from hensaver.com.

I wouldn't keep a chicken cooped up in my house 24/7. I don't think that's right.. They need fresh air and my chickens like to scratch, I wouldn't like any of them to scratch the carpet in the the house.

My bantams seem to poop more often than my LF, and the bantams follow me around a bit more. I had one of my silkie chicks inside with me today, watching Beetlejuice, and the little booger pooped 3 times! Thankfully I had him on a puppy pee pad over my lap.

My husband and I are dogged out at this point. 15 years of a house with large poofy clumps of white dog hair, and the other one has a siezure disorder, so it's been siezures for the last 6 years, and losing stool and urine during the siezures, and can't hold it overnight because of the medications.

Hubby doesn't say anything when I say that my next dog will be a house chicken with a diaper. It can go outside if it wants to. But it may come in when it wants to, too.
