Does anyone else feel like just running away

Quote:
can you get away by yourself, even if just for a day to refresh and do something to keep your miond off of it all? that's alot to carry hon.

I agree. Even just a few hours can do you good. I know with animals it can be hard to get away but they will be okay for a little while. I was getting cabin fever real bad about a month ago so took a day and drove through the hills, did some sight seeing and even went through a cave tour and just had a day of fun with no stress. It picked up my spirits pretty good.

A LONG TIME AGO,

My 1st wife upset me considerable.

I put my clothes in my Camp-trailer, hooked it up, and left.

I got down the road about 40 miles and turned around and went home.

(We had 4 kids.)

I unpacked my stuff and took it back in the house.

As I walked by her, she looked up and said:

"I knew you'd be back ! "

(I danged NEAR left again !!!!)

But, I'll tell you from experience..........

........you can't leave yourself. AND your problems will ALWAYS BE "your problems".

Might as well just "hunker-down" and deal with them.

There it is !!!

(Sorry...I know that isn't what you expected to hear.)

That's just the way LIFE is.

BEST WISHES for your trouble.

I feel like running away from life at least once a week. I'll be keeping your family in my good thoughts and prayers.

I think everyone, at some point, gets that "on an island by myself" urge. Unfortunately running from problems simply creates more problems.

I agree with the posters that suggested you need a daycation. I do that occasionally and it is rejuvenating. It is the right time of year for it too as the stores are beginning to stock seeds and other Spring type stuff.

Yup.. i feel like running away all the time. Just me and hubby...
Alas.. i have bills to pay and critters to care for..
Sorry things are bad for you right now..

When my kids were small, and their dad was still alive, and giving us all the verbal abuse on the planet, I used to sneak off with a book and just sit in the laundromat. Folks just assumed I was waiting on laundry. A lot of paperbacks got ruined with tears, but when I went back home, I was ready to cope a little longer. A little time to yourself makes you a better caretaker for those that count on you.

And what would you do on your island? You would be lonely before nightfall.
Missing the very things you're leaving behind.

Me, I find the need to be by myself in the woods. On the rare occasion that I can
not find myself there, I pack it up and head for the library.

And there exists every island that ever was.

Peace be with you tonight.

I got a call about 10PM one night, from the driver of the airport bus telling me I needed to come pick up my aunt in 15 minutes (I could her her voice in the background)

She had had enough, she needed help caring for her husband of 60 years. He had dementia. Her kids said she could do it all. She knew she couldn't, she took her husband up to the senior center. Asked them to call her son for a ride for him when the center closed. And took the first plane out of town.

She felt horrible and was in tears when I picked her up. I called my cousin to let him know she was safe here, just over whelmed. He took care of his day for a few days while she enjoyed the sun and rest. When she got home, her son realized that dad was at a point he did need more care than one person could provide.

It is too bad she had to run away to get help, but I am glad she did it and glad that I was her Island in a time of storm.
