Does anyone else get annoyed by this?

Let's talk cars, what are your favorites?? I'll go with a 69 charger, oh yeah!!

Hmmm....that's a tricky one. At the moment, I'm really liking the brand new caddilac CTS-V coupe. Deadly fast!

Hehehehe.......

I used to love it when the mechanics would look at my ex husband when talking about cars...............this was a guy that thought his tire size was:

36 psi

Although I am adept at tire changes, and generally change at least one a month (mine or someone elses), the other stuff I know about my car is as follows:
1. It is green.
2. It has 4 tires.
3. they are round.
4. i put gas in the hole under the flap on the side.
5. It is a good car.
6. it has 4 wheel drive. or all wheel drive. anyway, all the wheels on my car go.
6. It will not parallel park.
7. there's stuff under the hood that moves, so i try to stay away from that stuff.
8. I put blue stuff in the little spot with the picture of the windshield wipers.
9. i can either have HOT seat heat, or warm seat heat
10. crayon does not come off the fuzzy ceiling.

I am very glad my husband knows how to fix stuff when it breaks. When he was overseas, it was pretty bad. Did you know it's bad to drive a car with no transmission fluid? and no... i don't even know what that is, what it does, or where it goes... but his car apparently ran out and i drove it anyway. very bad.

I don't think it's weird if a lady knows how to fix a car... i get a lot of looks when I change my own tires, or stop to help someone else on the road. the more skills people have, the easier this life will be.

Mmm Motorbikes. Nothing like being treated like the little girl that can't keep up with the big boys just because she has a bigger pair up higher.

And the flood stuff... grrrrr... I'm strong as anything. I used to be a weightlifter, dude. I am strong-as. Stronger thyan 90% of the men who kept handing me brooms and sponges and telling me to clean bottles. No! I can move the pool table! Why can't I move the pool table? Geeze.

My husband loves it though. Takes me out shootin and last week our date was a Motorbike Museum where I got photographs with an old Indian and a rotary Norton (*drool*) which I wanted turbo'd. hahahaha. It was great! He tells me about how engines work and helps me learn things like how to clean my own carbies... and he even is the one that helped me kill my first chicken. He is super insanely supportive and he even tells other blokes to back off when I'm motivated, because ain't nobody gonna stop me!!!

after reading your list I'm starting to feel like a car genius

but I know I'm really not.

To further your education...... Your car can't manufacture it's own lube, but many components need it and some work on hydrolic pressure too (oil of course, tranny as you found out, power steering, clutch, brake system, cooling system, etc). So here's what you do, get yerself a Haynes manual from the parts store that has the year/make/model of YOUR car on the front of the book. Chapter 1 is about routine maintenance and what kinds of liquids need to be checked/filled/changed periodically and it also specifies what kind to refill with. It won't make you a car genius, but it might help you avoid that tranny problem.....

I like #6.5 hahahahah...... The CAR can't parallel park!!!

I can reverse parallel park a trailer, w00t w00t. Once I had to do it between a million cones at the dump and all these blokes came running out in their emegency vests to watch me hahaha. And the they applauded. And then none of them helped me empty my rubbish. D: Not about sexism, but dude, I'd offer to help a man with it! It's a big job.

(That sounds really weird I want to be treated like I can do stuff but offered help but that makes sense - it's polite. :hmm)

one time, my car got a flat tire, right outside of boston, and i noticed it when we pulled into the first rest stop there. I moved the car to an out of the way spot, and proceeded to unload the back, which had suitcases, pillows, a jogging stroller, etc. and sort of piled it on the snow (March) and on the 3 kids in the back. the baby was <1 at the time. anyway, the lug nuts were on so hard, i had to stand on the end of the wrench thing and sort of jump up and down a little... anyway, some 45ish guy pulled into the spot next to me and sat in his truck and watched. for the 15 minutes it took me to get the wheel off and the tiny donut on.... then, when I was retightening the lug nuts, he leans out his window and says "You need a hand?". I just smiled and said, "No, i think i've got it from here. thanks"... but really, what man, what HUMAN would sit there for that long before offering to help? The baby was crying, the other kids were fighting, and Yeah, i had it under control, but really? not impressed. i would have turned down help, nicely, but I DO know how to change a tire... but it would have been nice if he'd offered at the beginning.

Oh YEAH... FIL was shocked... I mean slack jawed shocked when he came to the back of the shop and saw me up to my elbows black putting the lugnuts back on and tightening in the proper star pattern ... after replacing the shocks on our truck.

He recovered, but couldn't keep the surprise (and I think respect) out of his voice when he said "You look like a regular ol' greasemonkey"

Only took him 13 years...

Years back when the tranny in our wagon started acting up I was ignored. Not that I had a clue how to fix it but when you put a car in reverse and it acts like it's in neutral... when you can FEEL it shift, hard... well I know enough to figure it's tranny. Couple months down the road it finally gave up the ghost and he says "Now where did THAT come from?"
