I think it is worth mentioning that....
MOST "car salesmen" know very little about automobiles.

That is ONE (of many) reasons that they are "salesmen" and NOT "mechanics".

Talking "technical" automotive subjects with a car salesman is a waste of your time...Male OR Female.

DH likes to tease me, saying he married me because I have more tools. What he doesn't say is that I also know how to use them. He's never really been in a situation in life where he used tools, but he's learning fast. He has no problem with learning from me, but he's a pretty secure man. I learned a lot because I simply NEEDED to. He's learning now because he WANTS to.

I am not helpless and I am not naggy but otherwise with the op subject I am the guilty as charge. Not that I don't know about cars, engine repair, but since it was my job to test run gas engines it bores the crap out of me to hear people talk about cars.

I just don't care. I was the only gas engine tester in the 65yr history at Jasper Engines and Transmissions. I worked harder than most men and was never acknoledge for my efforts and even told until I could grow male parts I would not go anywhere with the company. I however am not a good driver nor do I care. People assume I am not familiar with auto's if they don't know me and I just laugh at them.

When I bought my car I was telling the car salesman all about the car. He didn't even know it had a sealed transmission or 250 HP. SHEESH!!!! (In fairness to him, he did tell me I ought to be a car salesman, er salesperson!)
