Does anyone else make homemade dog biscuits?

OOh yumm! I like this one! So, if i put meat into the biscuits, do i have to keep them in the fridge?

I don't put mine in the fridge, they don't last that long aroud here. Besides the meat is first boiled, then after adding to the dough it is the baked, then mine go in the dehydrator so I see no need to put them in the fridge. Never had any spoil.

My dogs were soooooooo happy to get their biscuits. In fact, I still have a plate full of them on the desk next to me so my chihuahua mix Cooper is of course suddenly wanting to be in my lap. I know it's just to get closer to the biscuits, lol. Even the cats had to get in on it. They came to get their fair share too. Everyone is content and happy with full tummies now. I want to try a couple of the recipes that people mentioned here. I am always trying to improve upon recipes that I think could be better, or easier to make. I spent years working on my chocolate chip cookie recipe until I was happy with it. Now when I make it, everyone eats it. We made them to be sold at the town wide garage in Williamsport in early May for the 4-H, and within a half hour every cookie was gone. I was glad to see the money go to support the 4-H. But when I hear of a recipe that interests me, I try it and if I'm not instantly happy with it, I will tweak it til I am. I am a HUGE fan of pumpkin and I love pumpkin breads, cookies, cakes, pies, etc. I'll eat just about anything pumpkin. If I can, I want to make some pumpkin butter this Fall. I LOVE that! I'll have to keep an eye out on here for other good recipes. I LOVE to bake!

I have a little cookbook with tons of dog bone recipes. I haven't made them in a few years though. I know I put brewers yeast in one batch. That is supposed to keep away fleas.

Please do post any dog food recipes. I have been making my own in the kitchen now for 3 months and I welcome any little additions I just haven't considered. I use meat scraps, grated carrots, powered milk and cottage cheese along with my other dry ingredients. No mistaking that smell! My dogs are even more attentive than usual when I do my weekly baking.

Back at you on the crazy about pumpkin. Love them. Any scented candle also sucks me in but my 'lowest point' according to my kids was when I purchased pumpkin fudge. Yeah, it's so wrong but boy was it wonderful!

We used to make bisciuts or at least try. hey never turned out well. We did made dog stew and the dogs loved it.

I have made them before. Actually, they started out as a cracker for myself(because I love crackers). With rice flour, spelt flour, cheese, flaxseed, a little water and olive oil. I couldn't see any reason why my dogs couldn't eat them too, so I offered them one. They gobbled them up instantly. So, now I make people crackers to share with the dogs. I never measure with cups etc. I just eyeball the amounts. I tend to cook like my grandmother, by taste, smell, and texture. Anyway, to get them crispy try to not make them as thick, and then bake them at a relatively low temp for a longer time. As was suggested earlier, let them sit in the oven until completely cool. Enjoy, and happy baking!!!
