Does anyone else's chickens do this?

So we have 14 chickens and were advised when setting up our coop to have one nesting box per 4-5 hens and add more if they seem to be fighting over them. We have nine that are laying so far and they all lay in the same box! They are pretty peaceful about it and don't fight so it doesn't seem to be a problem but found two of them trying to lay in the same box at the same time this morning and thought it was pretty funny. I just wanted to see if anyone else has seen their chickens do this...

Kind of?? My flock is free ranged and makes their own nests. You can always tell the trending nesting box after a couple of days because the others will have like...three and that nest will have ten. Maybe try to put fake eggs in the other boxes to encourage them to lay in other boxes? It works for me sometimes...

I put in 4 boxes for 10 hens and they all fight for the same one. In the past few days I have added 3 more nests and this morning there were 7 chickens fighting over the same one and I only got 4 eggs. I've been finding eggs in strange places (a pile of weeds, etc) because they refuse to use other boxes.

Yes I’ve seen it once before! They hens always want to lay in the same nest box, no matter how many other boxes you offer them. That must be the preferred box!

you can put clay eggs in the other boxes to encourage them to lay elsewhere, if a hen sees an egg somewhere she will want to lay there to.

I have caught 2 and 3 trying to lay in the same box. I have 13 chickens and 4 boxes. A few do use other boxes.
Pic of 2-3 in a box. It is funny. I get my eggs and theres 9 eggs in a box, 2 in another box and 1 in another.

Yes mine do that too. It is a little funny but that's actually how I ended up with an egg eater because so many piled into one box they were breaking the eggs. I have two "fake" eggs- I put one in a box- and that seems to help some. If they aren't breaking any eggs I wouldn't worry about it though. ☺️
