One of my hens layed her first egg 2 weeks ago and has made her own little nest outside of the coop that she lays almost all of her eggs in. She lays at the same time everyday so I have been going out to watch. ( This is my first time owning and raising chickens so dont judge lol ) I have two roosters that watch her while she gets ready to lay. They even sit in her nest when she gets out. They have also scratched out a few other spots close by that they all visit multiple times before the hen decides she is ready to lay her egg. Its really strange to me. Why do they do this?

My roosters do that too, occasionally. They always seem to be trying to "help" the hen find a place to lay. I think that they are trying to provide her other places to lay her eggs. My birds do this sometimes- most of the time, the hen just looks at them in disgust and lays in her normal place!
