the law for having chickens. I live in Belleville Illinois, not in the city but the county of St. Clair.

I can't find it on any of the govt websites.

Call the zoning office or just get the chickens and they will call you.

I'd just go ahead and get 'em if it was me. If you live in a development there could be some restrictions, the same with a small incorporated town, but otherwise, there probably isn't any restrictions.
