Does anyone have a Great Pyrenees...?

A different breed is probably a better choice then. This breed is kind of a coin toss when it comes to birds. We have a rat terrier who by breed should be a terrible fit for birds and is wonderful with them. I guess sometimes you never know!

We have 2 pyrs and a Newfoundland. The Newfoundland is pretty useless as protection other than her size but the pyrs are awesome. The male pyr will not come in the house but our female pyr comes and goes as she pleases. Our male pyr is definitely the guard dog and we have no predator problems. He just killed a raccoon last night and we routinely have to get possums up near the chicken coop. We have 10 acres so he has the run of the property. Our female will usually stay out at night with him and when they hear something - they are off as a team. I absolutely love them. We just had a litter and if mom is not sleeping with them and keeping a watchful eye, dad is sleeping with them or keeping watch

When we got our first pyr, our Newf pretty much did the boundary training. She is big and does not stray far from the food bins. When we got our second pyr, our female trained him on the boundaries. He roamed for a little bit, but she quickly reinforced that the others would not be following him. Our female pyr is still the alpha of the group.
