Does anyone have any pics of a dog crate converted into a brooder?

That's great...do the chicks eventually hop up the ladder?

Mine seriously looks exactly like this.

Yep Yep mine is pretty close to the one AHappyChick, but I have wire ramps from a ferret cage in at the moment. I will be stealing the idea for the other perches though thanks!

well it was originally used for juvenile silkies hence the perches and ladder and yes they sometimes would use it other times they just hopped/flew up there.

why I made a nest box thing I will never know I was delusional that maybe they would lay an egg early

sometimes I do strange things, I have since removed that part

actually I took out most of it since it is now being used as my chicken hospital for my sick EE named sweat pea https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=160532

Here is our dog crate brooder...it's working out really well so far...I just created a bigger one in our larger crate to move them in another week. The new one will have some small roosts to jump around and play on.

Here's ours. We put a layer of newspaper over the wood shavings, but they still get scratched out by the chicks.

Do the chicks ever 'investigate' the lamp and get burnt?

OH MAN! I just got done with my exact version of what you did, that's so funny. My fingers are all pricked up. NOT FUN! The hardwire cloth was also the same height as the dog crate. There are definitely kinks I'll need to work out. And guess what? After I finally have it down, they'll be too big and will have to be transferred again.
