I am a parent whose child took home hermit crabs in the 1st grade. I took care of them for five years. When a local pet store took our pet fish which were too much work for me, I took that as an opportunity to "give the hermit crabs a change of scenery, too." Well that was 2 years ago, and I still think of them and miss them. They weren't that much work, but I thought they were miserably bored with their cage. Now I'm still sorry I got rid of them. Well, its too late now. But I do wish I kept them, and I hope their new owners are taking (or took) good care of them. Boy, the things we worry about sometimes - but overall, hermit crabs rock!
