Does anyone have suggestion on Showmanship breeds?

My silkies will get filthy if I don't a. Move their run weekly ,b. Aren't housed on higher ground, c. Don't have straw in their run.
They're amazing in every other way, though.
I recommend silkies, however I don't recommend any of the lighter variations.

We are kind of looking for a bird that would be easy to keep clean and do you have to maintain there fluff in some way?

We aren't showing, but we do keep them clean. We will wipe off excess crud with a cloth , tape crests so they can see, provide feather fixer when needed (+normal feed). We will bathe when it warms up as well. ( my whites are much harder to keep than my blues.)

Thanks for the information

I agree with Cochin bantams, but I now see that you're relative isn't the most fond of feathered-legged breeds. I don't have any experience with showing... But Delaware is a beautiful breed with a strong stance. You may see them as being prone to getting dirty easily... But they stay surprisingly well. Hope this helps the slightest bit for you guys.

Thank you for the suggestion I’m at looking into all the breeds before I make a decision so it might even end up being a Cochin! You never know!

I would think OEGB or Seramas would be a good choice if you do not want feather legs. The OEGB are probably the most popular breed in my area so it is easy to find birds for sale and there are lots of people who are knowledgeable and usually very willing to help, especially junior exhibitors. I am a huge fan of the Seramas. The table top shows really intrigue me. Those could be shown in showmanship as well as the table top shows. I saw my first Serama meet this past weekend and definitely wanted to get one after watching but I am sticking with my d'Uccles for now. The people in the Serama Club were very helpful to the juniors as well. Go to some shows and meet people who have different breeds and see what you like in person and talk to people who know a lot about the different breeds. I learn something new everyday. Good luck!

Those two are the favorites so far so I was wondering if anyone did like them or think they wouldn’t be good for showmanship!
