NPIP testing is done once a year. cost very low and you recieve a book of all the forums for shipping.
Really very easy, some State need test done 30 days before shipping. Myself I just dont ship to those states.

If people in Kalifurnea would stop being so crazy about everything, perhaps they would not be so broke. I have never seen so many laws regarding the environment, the economy ........ from any other state I can think of. I always tell people in this state that you are all close to a communist position and it is just plain scary.

I just would not ship anything there. If this state wants to be an isolationist community, so be it. If they want to harbor their vewpoints, so be it. As far as I am concerned, this is getting serious and people really need to wake up to what this states government is doing.

These laws are not going to stop the spead of deseases. There is always a concern for desease in a flock of birds and a once a year test will do close to nothing. Does this now mean that commercial egg producers has to have thier flock examined ?? The only thing these laws do it give some lucky poke a government job.

the National Poultry Improvement Plan flocks are free of of two ONCE widespread diseases ,pullorum and typhoid.

Thanks to NPIP you dont hear of these outbreaks.
YES commercial egg producers chicken are NPIP flocks and so are all your large hatcheries.

Not just the once a year teating, you have to not bring bird into you flock unless they are from NPIP flocks.

So yes the NPIP did put a stop to spreading of diseases!!!

Spreading of diseases from State to State is because PEOPLE DONT follow the laws about importing and exporting.

If a person cant not pay the 50 to 100 dollars a year. They should not be selling eggs or birds to out of state buyers.

Hey! I live in Kalifurnea!! And yep, I agree with you! Not all of us that live here enjoy the "liberties" our government is so profoundly applying and taxing our state with...even though I earn a living working for the County I live in....

Take care,
Tina

I shipped 4 peafowl to KALIFURINEA with the NPIP papers no PROBLEM!!!
VA. have tighter import laws on birds and hatching eggs.

I think it is another way of putting the little man out of business.
Next, they will want a birth certificate and proof of insurance. It's always
something to get a dollar here and a dollar there. It's all about the money.
Everyone knows, that you can have your flock checked and tested and before the tail lights leave your driveway, an air borne bacteria can fly in
and something can happen. I say let folks have fun with their chickens and
go worry about the dope and terriost.

People talk like a state line is some kind of magic line. Anyone that lives by a state line knows NPIP is a joke. Bird(wild an domestic) import there selves across them all the time. Besides 90+% of the people raising chickens don't even know what NPIP is. Until its free an simple to get it will stay the butt of a joke.

"If a person cant not pay the 50 to 100 dollars a year. They should not be selling eggs or birds to out of state buyers"

Wouldn't that be a farm tax???? Living on 2 state lines means that 2 out of every 3 birds I sell off my property goes out of state so why should my expense be more than a farm 3 or 4 county's over.

In WI we can become certified to test our own birds and any one elses in the state and become a WI certified flock we can't ship out of state unless the state we ship to will say that our paper work is as good as NPIP. even though the only difference is the NPIP Fee that has to be paid once a year.

Main reason birds need to be test is to stop the two diseases from having a come back. Thousands of chicken were wipe out by these in years past. They also check for bird flu.

NOT ALL DISEASES ARE AIRBORNE. NPIP also give alot of info on keeping your flocks clean of all diseases.

It cost me 50.00 dollars for blood testing , testing for bird flu. All the paper work for shipping, yearly membership fee. They drove 100 miles round trip. Were could you get all that for 50.00 dollars. Plus a book with all NPIP breeders.

Sure they are not in it for the money, or trying to hurt the small breeders.

Yes NPIP is trying to stop the spread of a few diseases. most State are also.
