Does anyone know how to make an incubator easy enough for a kid to mak

I made one with a 25 watt lightbulb, an old styrofoam cooler, a piece of glass from an old picture for a window, and a thermometer/humidity meter. I put the eggs in a metal mesh pencil basket on top of a pie plate of water. Put it all together with duct tape. It appears to work but I have to keep a constant eye on the humidity and temp.

Now we've upgraded...added a fan and a thermostat, but the other one would be easy for a child to make cause there was no wiring involved.

Sorry...let me find...

Here's the basic model.

I originally had the light in the side, but moved it to the top before putting my eggs in. The space works better that way.

It's quite small...just a tiny cooler. But, it comfortably holds 6-8 eggs.

So far, out of the 6 eggs in it, 5 have embryos and veining as of day 6.

It totally got me hooked in a matter of hours and now hubby and I are acquiring the materials to make a bigger, more stable unit. Got the fan and the thermostat today.

When I was a kid, my grandmother and I made a small incubator out of a cardboard box. We just mounted a 25 watt bulb in the middle cut a small window and taped celophane over it and kept damp wash rags in it for humidity. Now this was 40 years ago mind you and out of about 10 eggs I got 3 little chicks. I would recommend the styrofoam cooler like Emily's. You can get a digital thermometer with a humidity meter at lowes or home depot. As long as you can maintain a temperature between 99 - 100 and humity at or just under 50% you should get something out of it.

I did...they are looking great. As of day 14, we had 4 wiggly babies in those eggs. Today is day 16 and things are holding steady.
