Does Anyone Know What Kind Of Spider This Is? Is It Dangerous?

I know....and from what I've seen, heard and read they seem to really exist and they are HUGE!

Well cut my 2 "yougin's" out today.Well one anyway.The one that was under my 2nd desk I thought would be a breeze to put out.I Opened the screen got a handy story book from grandson and tried to get it to stay on it.After 5 or so minute's of getting the lil BIGGER than I thought on it I made it to window and wel BAM it took a nose dive right into the furnace vent!.SOOOOOOO I waited till dark leaving the screen open an OHHHHHH NOOOOO that one who has been dangling there every night for 2 week's decide's to hide in the crack tonight.Had to get a piece of stiff paper and Hoist her out of the crack onto the brick ledge. Now I gotta wait see if that one ever come's back from the bottomless pit vent. NOW that reminded me That thing is back on same web right back under desk > OK Im going for big dust pan tomm.Thats just freaky!

Many spiders in the US - while not harmful/deadly to humans ARE still venomous - their venom just works on insects and their potency can be equated to that of a wasp or bee really. Also some people are just more hypersensitive to bite or stings from spiders & bees and so will have a worse reaction to them. Wolf spiders are a good example, a large wolf spider can bite you say in the toe (like a previous poster) and it will redden, swell, and be very tender to the touch. However thats about the worst you'll get. However if someone is super sensitive to bee stings - they may be more likely to have a like-wise reaction to some spider bites as well.

I have a great big black and yellow orb weaver who calls one whole side of my porch her home (just the edge, from the wall of house to the first post on that side) she's been there for a few weeks now. I don't mind spiders at all - I find many quite pretty. I have also owned tarantulas as pets when I was younger

Spiders are beneficial and most are non harmful to most people, and will leave you alone if you leave them alone - just like snakes. See one? Walk the other way. The ONLY spiders I'll kill is a wolf spider in my house - those things have a habit of running across my feet. I would move them like I do everything else -but they are too freakin' fast to get ahold of them in a jar or bowl.

I was reading this and remembered something about it being good luck for a spider to make a web by your front door so I looked it up and found all this. I didn't read through the whole thread so I'm sorry if some of this is double posted. I just thought it was interesting.

I had a really big ugly spider (not one of these garden spiders - much uglier) make a HUGE between electrical lines right by the house. The web was about 4 ft across. Beautiful. Went out to get a pic this morning, for ya'll's enjoyment, and just the very middle of the web was torn and the rest of the web still intact. It had been plucked out and eaten by a bat last night! I've seen them do it.
