To be honest there were some more worse ones then that but I picked that video over the rest..... But its the truth to animal cruelty

And then sewed it up with a needle and thread.....they do it live to let the feathers grow back and do it again and so on.

I think it is animal cruelty and very wrong.

Yes animal cruelty is wrong but poultry aren't protected by the Government.

Live plucking is illegal in both the US and Europe. It might not be well enforced, but it is illegal.

My personal approach to this is to ONLY buy down filled items secondhand.

This way, I'm not personally contributing to this industry.

It's not perfect. I recognize that the filling in those items was probably still produced in an inhumane manner since this practice is common in much of the world (and much of our down is imported from places where these methods are used). By buying used, at thrift shops, yard sales, etc. I am not contributing to the further production of down through such inhumane methods. Our down blankets and coats have all been purchased used. I feel much better about using these items this way.

Cheaper products can come from these sources, but most vendors now indicate country of origin for the products they use, since there is concern about these issues. Each feather product is somewhat differently controlled, so it's important to read the labels and names carefully too.
