Does anyone know why my chickens do this after they lay eggs?

I have never seen that behavior in my chickens. But I hear lots of egg songs when they were actively laying eggs. I read they sing the egg song after laying an egg to reintroduce themselves to the flock when they head back out to the chicken run from the nest box. Don't know if that is true, but it's a good story.

I have heard that the egg laying song is the chicken's way of saying' "Hey! There is a safe place to lay an egg here!! I just did!!"

We have one pullet that does this with straw as well lately! She isn't currently laying (first molt) and just does it at random. She will also do this with the feathers the other chickens have molted off. Super cute and fun to watch.
