Does anyone use a GENESIS INCUBATOR 1588

I have had questions about adding water too. With the turner in place, and full of eggs, it is impossible to tell how much water is in the tray. My humidity went down to 20%, so I added some water, and it went up to 70%. Obviously I over-watered. So how much water do you put in at a time? And where do you like to keep the humidity?
Thanks!

I cover about 2/3 of the trough with clear plastic . I leave a egg out of the tuner over the hole to add water. My humidity stays about 42 %
for day 1-18. I uncover about half to raise humidity to 55% for hatch.
My first hatch was 15 out 17. Today was day 18 for 31 eggs.
I only add a small amount of water when humidity drops to 38-40%.
I ordered mine from G.Q.F.Mfg.Co. 1588/tuner/shipping $184.32.
Got it in about 4 days.

I bought mine from Cutler Supply with 1610 turner and it was the cheapest price I could find after about 2 weeks searching. I just started my first hatch in it but if you are looking for reviews on it you came to the right place, tons of people on BYC use this bator. That is part of the reason I chose this model.

I am using the tubing on the top hole to fill the "C" channel and will add water to the "C" and "T" channel during the hatch as the instructions indicated. So far the temp and humidity have been spot on and all I did was plug it in and add water.

For those of you who put yours in the bathroom's I have a question. I thought about putting mine on the bathroom counter but was concerned about the humidity spiking when we took showers (wife and daughter use VERY hot water and the room is very fogged with the steam). Do you have a problem with the humidity?

I have my first set of eggs in our 1588 right now (due Monday). I had the same problem that another poster mentioned, when the egg turner is used it is almost impossible to see how much water you're putting in the trays below the turner racks. I did leave one egg cup empty right below the vent hole and used the aquarium tubing and a small syringe to feed the water in, but I overfilled the water tray at least twice because I couldn't really see the water trays at all. Anyone else who uses the 1588 and the auto egg turner, how do you overcome this problem?

This is what works for me. I use a 30cc syringe with plastic tubing, so I can put the water where I want it and not open the lid but a fraction of an inch. I put about 90 cc cc water in the trays and get the humidity about where I want it, before I fill it with eggs. I put a piece of sponge in the corner, and every morning and night, put about 20 to 30 cc of water right on the sponge. The excess runs into the tray, and the sponge adds surface area.

I also have a humidifier running in my hatching room, which has helped IMMENSELY.

I adore mine. I got mine from direct from GQF https://www.gqfmfg.com/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=34
I went with the 0720 package, it came with the 1588, the turner with both sets of racks for quail and chicken, a bunch of quail eggs (I gave them to my silkies, they didn't hatch), and free shipping for $184.80. The 1588 and the turner with all the racks would be $179.65, then you'd have to pay shipping. They did ship the eggs separately, and much later than the bator, hence the reason I gave them to the silkies, the bator was already full of chicken eggs.

I was thinking of getting another one to use as a hatcher if we staggered hatches, but now I keep seeing all these folks raving about the Brinsea Octagon 20 ECO being on sale. Since you guys are 1588 fans, what do you all think?

Great question. I bough a cheap LP for a hatcher, and am already regretting that. I can't get the humidity and temp to stabilize, and today is the day to put some of the eggs in it. Yikes...

Really like the 1588 but my turner broke ( little plastic tabs snaped under duck eggs)with it, so switched to a LG turner. Love the way it keeps the temp constant. The Brinsea is cheeper but does not hae alot of room in it for the peeps when they hatch out. Been considering a second 1588 for a hatching unit.
Service from the company is great too.

Did anyone else figure out what the little white piece that looks like it holds a report cover or other papers together is for? I never figured it out and am running the 1588 with 13 eggs in it.

My batches of eggs are 3 days apart, so I guess I need a hatcher and have been trying to make that decision.

I've been having a problem keeping overnight humidity in a desired range. I check the bator at bedtime, get 45% or so, then check in the morning and get "LO" as the reading and quickly add water. Am I the only one with this problem? I'm using the tubing/syringe method like many of you to add water to Trough C.
