Does anyone work from home?

Quote:
I'm not a very good saleswoman, plus I hate wearing make up, only when I have to. The sun gives me my make up, haha. I have looked into the transcription thing, I would work for a National Co that uses contractors and has many accounts to cover, THANKS FOR THE ADVICE.

I do it more for the skin care and anti-aging products than the make-up. I am not a big Make-up person either

I've been self employed now, working from home for 7 years, before that I was an idependant contractor working in the same industries (added: wich means I worked when it was convenient), before that is irrelevant, I was a single mom.. I did what I had to do.. nuff said about that.

My first philosphy toward success is to NOT put all your eggs in one basket... funny pun. That also means DIVERSIFY for success.

If you do not have a specialty, an area of expertise, there are still many great ways to earn some residual income.

Online for instance there are affiliate programs. I earn about $600 a month from different programs/websites I setup up once upon a time years ago, and maintain once in a GREAT while. Those were easy.
They include ebay (not products, but links to products), amazon (same as ebay), travelnow/expedia, google and more. One project I had in mind once setup will only require you to shop online at Cafepress finding products you like and linking to them from a webpage.. how simple is that? I even had a domain & logo but let it lapse because I just don't have time.

I have a file full of ideas, all internet related that I wish I had more time for. Most of which do NOT require design or website programming experience. In fact, some of the most simple sites, even BLOGS maintained by people like you, with links to products that earn you a commission... are some of the biggest sellers.

First you have to figure out what you like to do, and what your good at. Now after years of being self employed I finally have time for a hobby, which of course I will also ensure makes me at least a little money. Again, diversify.

My DD is 12. She was in daycare for 2 weeks as a welfare requirement. I couldn't tolerate it, and so out she went and off welfare we went. It was brief but necessity is the mother of invention as they say. I HAD to make it work and I have done so beautifully.

Happy to advise or offer support to anyone wanting to try, its WORTH it

Did you say you don't have any kids at home or you do? Could you babysit during the day?

The only thing I don't like about babysitting at home is YOU HAVE TO BE THERE EVERY DAY. I was using an WAHM babysitter for my little boy one time. I had to have a back up sitter just in case she was sick or one of her kids was sick with something. It was a huge pain.

Another thing along the same lines weekend babysitting. This is something that I have thought of. All daycares are closed on the weekends. Someone in the right market might make a mint by offerering 24 hour childcare on the weekends. From like 5:00 p.m. on Friday to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Those hours wouldn't bother me knowing I was going to be "free" for the whole rest of the week!

First thing to do is to celebrate taking your own success into your hands.

Then, start making a list of all the websites you visit regularly (check your browser history for reminders)

Another list should include your favorite activities and things you already do for yourself that others need done as well, as well as the things you would LIKE to be doing or involved in....

And finally, where do you live? Or live nearby? Or where have you lived that you know a lot about it? If you live in a tourist area or near one, or know one really well, that's a great start. But even if your area has only one attraction, it's something to build on.

For those of you who think the internet is not your cup of tea. What can you make? As long as it's not food your pretty much in the clear. The homemade craze is everywhere, you could take advantage of it.

perhaps a group of you could get together to put a large project in play...

I'm telling you the options are limitless... God Bless America!

I will make a formal answer on how to get started after I get done with some work over here and post it later this evening. But that is where you start.

I have a friend who does medical transcription. The way her job works it seems like would be very difficult to raise kids at the same time. it's not flexible at all. She needs to sign on at a set time and can only take a few breaks during the day. Somehow they can tell through the computer when she's not working and she will get docked or even fired if she takes too many breaks. I think she said they can even tell how many keystrokes she makes per hour. Sounds kind of brutal. Any way to turn your chickens into income? Sell the eggs at the Farmers Market? Or raise pastured broilers? I sell to a few friends but I could sell alot more if I wanted to, so I think there's a market for that, for sure.

I plan on sending a basic amount of eggs to my needy neighbors, and selling some eggs to a few people who will pay a buck or two. But the farmers market is just starting here so I'll be lined up for that for eggs, and baby chicks as well as grown chickens. I cannot bring the chickens to the market but I can advertise that I have some, and I will. I will also sell fertile eggs. And when all that goes well, we will sell a package here... a couple of laying hens & a little hen house & run.

Anyway that the chickens can make or SAVE you money, is income.
