Does clipping wings keep chickens in privacy fencing?

Thanks for the link and offer to review!

I see SO MANY people on this forum (and others) who say that despite clipping the wings properly, their chickens still fly high... makes me wonder if I should just go with heavier breeds to be safe.
In most instances where clipping was reported not to work that I could get a reasonable description of, the clipping was not close enough to be effective. The other instances likely involved the same issue, but the posters appeared less than open to the possibility that the clipping was not close enough and they did not show what was done. Hence I suggest showing your clip. It took me some experimentation to get it down so presumably others will have same issue.

Check thread below showing how I did a little experiment roughly two years ago.

Still recommend the BO's for flight safe birds. They are built like a bumble bee, but unlike the bee, they have not figured out how to fly. Period. Mine don't even jump on anything. The RIRs are definitely flyers. You wouldn't want that. I just do not know about the breed you are considering.:D

Super cool, and really boosts my confidence! Thanks. :D It will be some time before I get my first chicks and they're old enough to need wing clipping, but I will be back with pictures when I do!

You will need to clip more than once. We trimmed our chicklets when they started to fly, seems like they were a little over 9 weeks old.. then we just did them again a couple days ago just after they hit 4 months 'cuz they had gotten their adult molt. It's like you clip them when they get their learner's permit, then you have to clip again when they get their actual license, lol. Hopefully this will hold 'em a while.
