Does my chick have a claw foot?

What is that method? From what I have read he looks like a boy--which is probably even worse news for him since most don't want roosters and they certainly don't want a rooster that is deformed.

You stretch his lil wing the tip will either have one row or two of pin feathers. Two is female one is male.
This lady makes it super simple!

I think it is a female. Now my other chick that was born has the same deformity with the claw. Very strange although it is much worse off and probably won't make it through the night or if it does it will be miraculous!

ok so i did a little looking. found this site. If you can fix it this place will tell u how.

The bad news is most dont make it. Looks to be some kind of lack of vitamin issue.
Where did you get the eggs? And how many?
I'm sorry this has happened.

Definitely try the chick shoes if necessary. That is a very common problem and the chick shoes can quickly take care of it!

Sometimes they just need a little time to stretch out there feet and legs. And sometimes it is just and egg/incubotor issue.

I splinted mine by making a lttle cardboard shoe, then taping it on with bandaids, 24 hrs later perfect!!!
Good luck

Well I used band aids for the feet and yes they helped--she went from walking on ankles to walking on her feet but her toes are still curled. She has a bit of a problem walking on the grass with the curled toes but she is figuring it out. I also tried vitamin water but it did not really help either. I think you can see her toes in my profile picture.

yeah, your avatar made me go to your home page and find this thread :) My silkie that had it was not this bad. Only two of her toes were curled, but it helped. I didn't use bandaids I used medical tape and cardboard. The bandaids didn't stick well enough. When I went to take it off, I used baby oil to help with the peeling. She is doing great now!

It's something that can happen during incubation if humidity is too high or too low, or the temperatures aren't steady.
