I thought I posted to this thread earlier.... Let me try again:
I wish I had seen this thread yesterday. The usps needs to do a much better job when shipping live chicks. Yesterday was an absolute nightmare. I have never been so stressed, worried, depressed, scared, mad, excited, happy, exhausted in my entire life.
MPC shipped the chicks as promised April 7th.
I did my part by speaking to the post office twice before they shipped so they would know to expect them. I got tracking updates Monday night until 11:00pm. Then nothing. They said due by 12:00pm Tuesday. I called the PO Tuesday morning at 6:00am they had no idea where they were. Luckily the gentleman at my local PO was wonderful. He spent all day calling every PO he could think of. No one had them. The chicks were MIA from 11:00pm Monday till 6:00pm Tuesday.
At 5:57pm Tuesday I finally got an update that they had arrived at the Brockton center 30 minutes away. Unfortunately they closed at 6:00. I thought I would have to wait till Wednesday morning. Since my local PO guy had already called Brockton earlier in the day, they knew I was looking for them. They called me at 6:10 and gave me similar instructions that Beriel got. Go where the trucks are ring a bell. Sure enough at 6:51 I had the chicks.
If it hadn't been for John at my local PO I'm sure Brockton would have just shipped them for Wednesday morning.
I wish a local breeder could sex bantams. That is why I went with MPC.
The usps really needs to do a better job. Don't give a 12:00pm delivery time if you aren't going to meet it. Understand these are living creatures. They need to get to their homes ASAP. Not sit in a warehouse for hours on end.
