Does my rooster need his spurs and nails trimmed?

I was looking at my rooster and his nails are so long. Also I worry about his spurs to because they look kinda long too. Should I trim them and how?

His toenails do need trimming, and it looks as if he has scaly leg mites. Do an on site search for treatment.

Yes....those are some scaly legs for sure!! Soak his legs and brush with a soft toothbrush then pack his legs thick with Vaseline.

While treating signs, describe conditions birds is kept under. There will be a preventive component as well so it does not keep coming back.

Spurs not yet to point where they are a problem in my book.

If you do trim which it looks like he needs. Be careful because their quick is V shaped and it’s easy to cut. It’ll bleed like the dickens too. There are some tutorials on YouTube that are good to watch on both subjects scaly legs & nail trims on chickens. I’m curious does he stay in a cage? Or a run? Most of my chickens wear their nails down naturally. Best wishes

Also I believe it’s. Soak feet in gasoline. But yes you should do your own research. Trim after soaking. No don’t smoke while doing it.
