I noticed that too. It happened around the time when there was about 13-14 people chatting. I wonder if the chat has a limit, limiting the number people allowed?

Hey Moderators! What happened last night to the link to chat?
It disappeared when we had about 14 people in there. We might have gotten more and gotten the record even higher, Who's knows.

I noticed its called free chat demo. I'd guess that means it is not a full version and has limits. Any chance of getting a full version?

I believe everyone there last night had a good time. I know I did. Maybe chat here on BYC could become a new trend?

Sorry TxChiknRanchers that you got dizzy. LOL. But you do have to admit it was fun and nice to have so many people(14 people lol) there chatting and getting along so well.

Even If chat here doesn't catch on, I will continue to be in there off and on. So if any one would like to chat with me I'll be there.​

It might have a limit and I also think that is highly resource intensive. Nifty would know best about it, but since it is used so sporadically, it might not be cost effective to get the full version.

Yeah, chat wasn't originally meant for more than about 10 people at a time... and that was before we started to have 100 people logged onto the forum at once. Chat is a HUGE resource hog, and couple that with a ton of people logged onto the forum and it is bound for trouble.

For more people support I'd have to do some major upgrades to the server. Fortunately it is really rare to have over 6 people in there. Most of the time it is 0 - 4 people.

If chat consistently had more people wanting to get in then we'd maybe find a way to make it work, but right now we don't have the resources.

The chat we use now is always free... no "advanced" or upgrade option. It is more a matter of server / financial resources.

I chose this chat because it had my minimum requirements:
1- It was free
2- It didn't kill the server when 5 people were on (and I tested about 5 of the leading chat programs)
3- It integrated with the forum so if you were logged into the forum you were logged into chat
4- It showed how many people and who was logged in before you went into chat

There are a ton of "free" services out there that show ads and won't integrate into the forum, but I wanted to stay away from those. If members really wanted to have chat support for 10+ people then I'll look into other options. Again, it's just been rare that there have consistently been more than 5 people on chat.

I have been in twice, one time there was 8 and last night there was 14, and CB wasn't able to get in, but i agree both nights anyone in theere said it was the most they had seen, seemed to work fine with 14 so as long as it doesn't hurt anything else I would leave it alone. I have also checked many times and No one was in there. It was all the things greggs eggs was saying that made people scared to leave, cause they saw the things he said about others when they left.

Hey, Mdbucks....... watch it! People might think there was bad mouthing going on and that I did say bad things. You might scare peole who were not there and do get the references/joke.

Correct if I'm wrong but it sound s like right now if too many people were to log in chat it would crash and maybe affect the site too? Uh OH!​
