There are alot of misinformation about this. I personaly am really confident that its a myth just like any other old wives tails. Did it work for you?

I thought it was like you said, plus the egg industry is big enough to know "secrets" like this. Also in my language Kokoska means chicken- duuh Im Serbian. Also if you can answer how bad is actually increasing of light in coop? I won't do it ever but I wanna learn as much as I can about chickens. ThanksYet another myth. Anything claiming to increase egg production is a myth. Some factors can interfere with and decrease egg production - improper nutrition (body doesn't have enough resources to produce eggs), molting (same), insufficient daylight (winter slowdown). But you can't force the body to produce more eggs than it's capable of when its needs are met. You can think of meeting its needs as "increasing", but really it's only "not decreasing". Cayenne pepper is not a need whose meeting will optimize egg production. The only thing you can do to increase egg production is add supplemental light in the winter, but again, what that will do is maintain the body's usual rate of production from the warmer months, it's not really an increase.
My thought is it will interfere with natural life cycles. Using some light in late fall or early spring to extend the laying season will probably not cause much harm. Using light all winter will probably cause harm as the hen never gets a break. Also if you can answer how bad is actually increasing of light in coop?
