Does the neighbor count as a pest?

sounds similar to the jerk next door to me.

I am sorry for your troubles.

We moved to the country cause of bad neighbours.

They would cause trouble then bring us treats, to cover up it was them.

We did have bad neighbours in the country too. Only two of us at the time sharing a small road, and opposite of each other.

Our kids were small 6-4-2 and a baby and we had 2 cats.

Since we lived in the country we let the cats out, well the guy told our small kids (I was indoors with the baby) that if the cat came into their yard again he would kill it.

He never really said anything to us except they were going in the flowers.

They never did anything, in time we did learn to co-exist, and I hope the same can happen to you.

If not I hope you can drive them away.

do you have a neighborhood association? go to them, and let them know what's up. see what they have to say. being tolerant and reasonable is a quality that everybody needs to cultivate in densely populated areas. your neighbor is obviously not doing his part.

do you have good relations with your other neighbors? let em know what's going on, and file an APPEAL with the city about the barn location. say it was a measuring error and was done in good faith. they probably have bigger fish to fry than your 2 1/2 feet of chicken clearance.

good luck!

Yep, I have a bad neighbor too.

We've had someone call on us for "supposed code violations", sorry my grass grew up through my rocks. Give me a break.

I know its my neighbor, but of coarse the city wont tell you who it is.

He's always peeking over my fence and I catch him doing this too. I guess I need to make sure I have my camera with me. He really gives me the creeps.

One day He was trimming his tree and standing on the fence so my dog was barking at him. So when I checked a little later I caught him spraying my dog with water. He was standing on top of the block fence spraying water down at her. He saw me and stopped.

One thing is I dont have to worry about him going in my backyard, my dog hates him. She slammed the fence one time when I saw him peak over. Good dog!

His dog even bit my daughter. Didnt break the skin thank goodness. He had his dog tied in his front yard, but the rope was so long it could reach my property. We told him what happened and so now he shortens the rope. But he lets the dog off all the time to roam the neighborhood and poo and pee in other peoples yards. Ive caught the dog in our garage.
I should have called the animal control when it happened but I was trying to be a nice neighbor and not cause problems. If it had broken the skin I would have called for sure. I think Im now regretting the decision of not calling.

He also parks his vehicle on my property, two inches from ny house. I had to ask him to move it so we could put new windows in. Then he started parking there again.

So I know Im going to have the same problems with him when I put my chickens outside.

So we will see what happens. If he causes me problems I dont think I can be a good neighbor any more. Ive tried.

I think I have been very forgiving.

So yes, I think I can understand what you are going through. I wish you luck and I hope that you win against your nasty neighbor.

I agree with putting up the no trespassing signs right away. The camera is a great idea too.

The company x-10 (i am not affliated in any way) has a few cameras like the wild game camera, but I think they are less expensive.

I am so sorry to hear you have to go through this? Do you have a neighbor on the other side of you? If so, do they complain?

We have a neighbor that was successfully rehabilitated from such things. We get along now. He is a city person that moved out here. He built a house on property adjacent to one of our pastures. He used to stand on his front porch and watch our house with binoculars. DH finally was so bothered by it that one day he went out with our binoculars and looked back at him. I stood next to DH and waved at the guy. He went back inside and never did it again. He went through a period where he was harrassing another neighbor that raised pheasants much like the OP's neighbor is harrassing. He called the county and complained about the birds and some antique cars sitting in their field. We broke him of that too. One day when I was out for a walk I saw him and started a conversation. I said something to the effect of, "Can you believe that some @$$h@le actually complained about the Smiths. My goodness, how could somebody not like the Smiths? The whole neighborhood thinks it must be a real jerk doing the complaining. I wonder who it is." A few of us did that to him and the complaints stopped. Keep in mind, that we all put up with the incessant barking of his dog, the fact that he violated his permits and built up his property in such a way that it disrupts the proper drainage from our property, his throwing of skunk carcasses and scrap cement over our fence into the pasture (we threw it all back) and then there was the time his basement flooded, and he pumped the water on and over our fence and turned our horse pasture into a skating rink one January. Like the saying goes, you can't cure stupid.

If somebody parked their car om my property 2 inches from the house, I would use the car as an extra chicken coop.

Not a bad idea

Im sure he would love that one. We are planning on extending our block wall the whole side of our house so he cant do that and then turning it into our dogs run
