Does the yolk move when candling?

Okay, I was under the impression that if you didn't candle once a week and toss what wasn't growing they might blow in your incubator! lol I'll just leave them til day 18 from now on!
They won't blow if they aren't bad. You can tell bad eggs by the smell.
Eggs that aren't growing bad bacteria can stay in an incubator for months till all the moisture therein evaporates.

I am a newcomer too and I candled eggs for the first time a week or two ago. I was not quiet sure what i was looking for but Im pretty sure the yolk moved when I candled.

I have looked at that one several times, and looked at it right before candling. However, she doesn't move the egg while candling, it only sits still- so I can't tell from that if the yolk normally moves inside as you turn the egg.

I'm going to candle some eggs from the fridge tonight to look at the yolk... lol

When I candle at day 18 I often see the yolks moving in ones that did not develop. I have not seen any yolk moving in the ones that were "quitters". If they are partially developed they are strange looking but I have not ever had one to explode at all and I have set hundreds of eggs just this past year. Now I have had some to explode when I take them outside and toss them. I had one explode in my hand when I was playing with it (won't do that again! Ewwwwh!) after taking it outside.

I have not ever had one to explode in the incubator but I have had a few to leak. But when I open the Sportsman to add water to the tank every day I sniff. You know when one is bad! I look for it and get it out so it won't stick to my plastic trays.

The yolks moved around like crazy in all nine of the eggs that I hatched out under my broody. She brooded nine eggs, and nine hatched.

We only have 8 chicks now though... the little failure-to-thrive one started screaming and died very suddenly, just when things were starting to look better for it. :'(

Yes! Just got my eggs, I'm a first timer. I was trying to look for detached air cells but I saw (I think) the yolk moving around every time I moved the egg around! Practice, I guess! Thanks!
