does this look like a true ameraucana

i know its not the best picture but the people are suppose to send me better ones of the rooster and hen

the people said they were gonna show him but they couldn't cause he had some purple in his feathers cause of sun stress

He appears to be an Ameraucana, however, when I enlarge the photo, I think I see some silver or gold streaking in the hackles. That would disqualify him as being worth anywhere near what they are charging you for him. In fact, if he has base color leakage/bleed-through, then he is not the best for breeding as it will pass on to his progeny.

Been there. I had a black Ameraucana from excellent, well-known breeder lines that had major leakage and it did pass on to many of his sons. If you see him in person and there is streaking in the hackles, don't pay what they're asking for the pair. That would be a rip-off. For that price, they should be just about show quality and he isn't.

yep well thats what I'm planing on doing but the people that own them say that they might produce blue chicks which would still make it a purebred cause black and blue are pretty close colurs so i would be getting black chicks and blue

He can produce blues ONLY if bred to a blue or a splash. If he has a black hen, you'd only get black chicks, never blue.

Blue, black and splash are compatible breeding colors, has nothing to do with being "purebred". Blue x black can give you black or blue chicks. Blue x blue can give you blue, black OR splash chicks. It's just a product of the blue gene and how it works. See the rooster in my avatar, a Blue Orpington? I've had blue Orps, blue Rocks and blue Ameraucanas and know a little something about breeding blue, black and splash. If they think you can get a blue chick out of two black birds, they are mistaken. Some blues can be so dark, you think they are black and make a mistake, but they won't have that sheen that he does.

Thanks for pointing that out I had a good look and I asked them if thats silver or just the lighting doing that

about the purple that is normal as most black birds when the sun hits them just right either look blue, gree, or purple has nothing to do with stress

ok im gonna get the number of these people and ask more questions but i believe its just the lighting that makes him look like he has some silver hackles
