Does TSC have a minimum...

Hen is cute! :

in my area, the limit is 6. They don't want them to die of lonliness?

I think it's an attempt to stop folks from buying 1 or 2 chicks for their kids. You know, Easter Chicks? It's in the best interest of the birds, I believe.

Which places? I know mypetchicken.com will-any others? I want to try and get 3-4 at a time so I have time to play with them and to keep my flcok small. I currenty have 13 and would like to add a few a year. MPC sounds good but I would like to see what other places (with small min order) have for variety?

TSC said they will have small batches of pullets-they werent sure which breeds...Im concerned with other chicken owners coming in and handling and possibly passing disease.....wanted to talk to TSC to see if I could special order a small variety of hens....

X2 Exactly also if you have six you will have an area suited for them opposed to people buying just one and putting it in a tiny rabbit cage as a pet all alone.

Not sure about your area, but the 2 TSCs near me, have the chicks behind fencing, and an employee puts them in a box for you. You can pick the chicks you want, but don't get to catch them. They wear gloves when they handle the chicks, and you don't get to touch them untill you are handed the box.

Yeah, the TSC's in my area just began this practice this year. I suppose it's a good thing in a way.

And it elliminates the tragedies similar to what someone posted earlier this year when they walked into TSC and saw a mom taking a photo of her 2-yr-old sitting inside the chick bin (crushing a few chicks) . . . and the mom didn't want to pay for the dead chicks.
