I have been considering doing something of a delivery service on the I-95 corridor but folks lying about being somewhere at a certain time would screw it up LOL I have made a few deliveries on one of my bikes that I kina padded out the saddlebags on a coupla times now folks have had 90-100% hatches, when I started crossing state lines I kina considered the lacy act but a good number of folks around me here live on the state line most of us have NC address's for the hatcheries that will not ship to Va. so I am in good company LOL

I got me some aluminum foil and will be shipping eggs tomorrow out and see if it helps at least a little

Wonder if my eggs were x rayed. I got 5 out of 65 to hatch. Over 50 never developed. It did say do not x ray on the box...
Oh well, my first time hatching, and first time with quail or shipped eggs. I'm actually glad I got any.

It's possible. There are many factors in incubation but shipping does play a role if you an hatch some and not others in a batch. I agree, it's better to have some to hatch than none at all though.

Does the fact that they are shook up bad, stop them from developing?

You know my last order had a lot that didn't develop, but a lot were scrambled too. :-(

I think foil is a good start! I for one intend to continue to order and take my chances, it's the only way I can get nice birds.

What about MC trailers? They have alot more space than saddle bags and pull really smoothly from what my dad says. And I think a network of harleys would be a little more fuel efficiant than learjets.

This would have been my suggestion or putting them in a tin of box of some sort.

Some of my thoughts? Don't pack eggs to tightly or the yolk will be the only thing moving. You don't want those little thingies that hold the yolk to get broken, right?

As for the USPS. Don't get me started. I worked there and I was always upset with the way things were treated. Of course I was sometimes upset with the way people packed things too.

As for FedEx? FedEx has a contract with whoever they ship for. So it's not likely they would be carrying eggs from a private individual.

I was just thinking what if you were to use canning jars? You could use either jelly or pints and put one egg wrapped in tin foil, wrapped in cotton batting inside each jar pack it up and send it that way. Seems to me if you pierced the tin foil and then use a porous cloth instead of the metal lid that would help.

You could offer this service charging extra. For me? I do jellies so I could use the jars anyhow.
