So, the other day I was training my dog outside. We where doing our usual commands, when I dropped a treat. My chickens are very curious and friendly, so Tammy decided to investigate what I had dropped. My dog went to bite her because for some reason he thought her beak could take a dog treat that big. :idunno
Luckily, I pushed him out of the way in time, but now poor little Tammy’s terrified of humans and dogs alike.

I’ve just sat out there, holding a few treats, trying to make myself look a little more her size (it’s not hard), in hope, she’ll get used to my presence and return to her happy-go-lucky chicken self. Is there anything else I can do?

I want to welcome you to BYC (but I idon'thave an answer to your question)....the dog may very likely not be safe w chickens, so many are not. Some have a stronger prey drive than others. Tell us what kind of dog it is.

Thank you for the welcome!

They’re normally fine with each other. They’ll actually play together quite happily. But, as you suggested, I’m going to keep him away from Tammy now; she’s too scared at the moment.
