@coach723 has a picture in some threads of a hen she has with a similar injury, and the wound eventually healed over, and looks pretty good. It sort of looks like down covering the skin. If she sees this tag, she may post the picture again.

I don't think so. It should slowly close up from the edges.

It will heal from the outside on. I would expect that it would mostly be covered with feathers. Both of my chickens that had skin ripped off grew back their feathers.

I am now, yes. I was doing that at first, then vet said to stop so I stopped, and back at it now. It's the feeling of dead skin. Is that bad?
