Dog attack

okay do not fret over that I do understand and agree if there was a break she should try to use it personally yes I would not keep a house chicken

I do not believe anything was broken. I have massaged and worked with her legs and feet daily, nothing feels swollen or out of place.

I think I’ve given her a great shot at feeling better but I think she’s lost too much muscle mass to get better at this point.

I can’t have a house chicken, the dogs are in and out all day so it wouldn’t be safe for her.

Has she been out of the sling at all?

Yes. I only put her in the sling a few hours a day when I can actively supervise because she was throwing herself out of it. She’s not in it at all at night because I didn’t want her getting stuck upside down or stuck in general. She’s also not in it when she’s outside.

If she's eating and drinking, I'd just keep her in a crate to rest most of the time.
It could take a long time for her to get around OK again.
I would also totally understand tho if you'd think it best to euthanize.
That's a decision only you can make, and one you only you should make.

I can’t keep her in a crate anywhere that she would be safe, from dogs, to bobcats, raccoons, possums, - anything other than a bear, we have it. Plus, I’m in Texas so it’s hotter than all get out here, I’d hate for her to be too hot. Which is why I have her in the tub in the bathroom. Figured she’d be away from flies, bugs, predators, and safer that way.

I’ll give her a few more days and try to get her walking more.

Ah, yeah, that's tough...better to be near the flock, but your situation is challenging.
(hangs my head in shame for bitchin about the heat here).

I agree, I hate her being away from them because that begins a whole mother issue of reintroducing when the time comes. I have 10 hens and 10 guineas (the guineas do their own thing, so they’re not a problem) but my hens are just now getting to their pecking order squabbling so if she can be integrated, it’s going to take some time.

Plus my birds free range, so she’d be stuck in a crate, in the barn, where the chickens would probably just be mean to her through the crate.

The heat is miserable, we’ve had a few cool evenings that I’ve taken her out to enjoy though.
