Dog attack

Just finished changing omlettes dressing, YUCK! But she is still eating and drinking. Vets tech said to wash her off with diluted dawn and not to cover the wound unless the skin had not aheard. It has so she is going bare. Trimmed all the feathers that touched the affected area. There is a lot of skin missing, guess time will tell.

We are feeling good enough for some grooming and feisty enough to peck me when I put on her vetericyn. She is still too shy to show me her "bad" side.

Feisty is good in chickens. Fven the most spitfire will let you handle them when they're sick. Sounds like you're doing a good job!

Omlette continues to improve. She is eating a lot and getting lots of yummy high protein treats. She has started to favor her left leg but I don't see any infection anywhere?

And Go HAWKS!

She was walking around just fine and not favoring it before? It could be something as simple as that scar tissue tightening up and getting painful, or some residual swelling that's pressing on a nerve. Don't forget to check all down the leg, including the footpad. She's no longer on antibiotics, right?

Correct, no more antibiotics and she was not favoring it before. I do not see any wounds on her leg at all but there is lots of missing flesh like where her shoulder would be.

I'm not an expert by a long shot. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable peeps will throw in, but I would suggest keeping an eye on it for now. If you smell infection you can start her on another round of antibiotics, but sometimes they just hurt.

Wouldn't it be great if they could tell us what's wrong?
