Happy turkey day to you as well!!! I hope I don't regret not making my hubby cull him he was sick thinking about having to do it poor thing

About your dog. Before I got chickens, my dogs were of the mind, "If it flies, it dies." Have a huge Canadian Goose population here and I love seeing them, but at times I let the dogs the dogs on them. They can become irksome x's 10,0000. They love to chase the geese and any wild turkey that happens by. Needless to say, I was scared when I got chickens. I made them sniff the birds and any aggressive behavior was corrected immediately. It took awhile and had to hold a chicken or two to threaten them with and they got the hint. They now protect the chickens and are rather spooked of them. Maybe if you threaten your dog with the rooster (when he is back to his normal self) things may slowly correct itself? This is my experience, so I have no idea if this is a good form of correction or a shot in the dark. But who knows......

Thank you for the advise she is a golden retriever mix soo well its in her blood I guess I will try to work with her that sounds like a really good technique thanks for the advise and unfortunately hank didn't make it through the night now I feel even worse he should have been culled immediately I'm guessing there were internal injuries

im sooo sorry to hear the news. you did all you could. there was hope there and we tried it. im sure that would be appreciated.

Bummer! You did the right thing by giving him the benefit of the doubt and trying to help him. If I culled a chicken immediately evey time it got injured or sick, before long I wouldn't have any chickens left.

I was thinking the same if he would have pulled through I would be talking about how I would have culled him for no reason
